I was amused by the third picture -

"A fictional mutant in a mechanical shell" - and here I thought the Daleks were real! Hee.

And actually, the 9th one looks like it should be a costume in a Doctor Who episode. Though I'm not sure the designer would appreciate that suggestion.

A woman stayed by my cube today to ask who handles an issue. I directed her to the correct person. And then she hung around to describe some earrings at the craft faire, and how they were so cute and shaped 'like that Star Trek symbol.'

Seriously... I'm not that much of a geek I'm going to buy earrings for *work* because they're shaped like the Federation symbol. No! I'm not!

The holiday weekend has been so nice and I don't want it to end... *sniff*

I've started rewatching The Professionals, a couple of episodes while I was decorating the tree and working on Christmas cards. I'd forgotten both how very snarky/witty all three of them could be, and how sexist. The humor makes me laugh and my eyes are getting a good rolling work out at the sexism. I'm watching from the beginning as I have all the episodes in order (I think) so it'll be interesting to see the show develop. The first time I watched was all out of order.

Thanksgiving was a great day, and I decorated my house for Christmas today. And ate so many leftovers that even after doing the treadmill for 30 minutes, I'm still full.

    I love holidays. :-)

I hope everyone is having a great Thanksgiving... or just a wonderful Thursday!

I made a pumpkin pie this morning... oh, the lovely smell of mixing the sugar with the spices, and then the pie as it bakes. So wonderful.

I should have been doing Thanksgiving prep, but I watched the last two Sarah Jane Adventures instead... awwwww... So sad. *sniff*

My cubicle neighbor is on the committee to organize the Christmas luncheon. It's almost funny, in the most sardonic sense, the number of times she's come over to complain about the petty disagreements among committee members about How Things Should Be Done. So much for it being the season of love and good will toward all people...

I am not ready for Thanksgiving... I'm very glad I took Wednesday off. I'd be happier with myself if I could keep things cleaned up/uncluttered, so there wouldn't be so much to do to have company over...

One of those weird things... I haven't really been impacted by the rise in gas prices. I drive a car with great gas mileage, my commute is less than 20 miles round trip. I fill my tank up about once a month, so a $25 expense went to $42 or so. Big whoop.

But I was driving home tonight from the baby shower (which went quite well, yay) and saw gas at $1.93. I wanted to whoop and stop and fill up (even though my tank's still half-full) because... OMG. GAS FOR $1.93!!!!

I was watching "The Caves of Androzani" for the first time in probably 20 years (scary!) and the guy playing Salateen seemed so familiar... watched the credits and saw 'Glenister' and thought... that can't be the guy from "Life on Mars" can it? Yeah, definitely some similarity with the mouth and eyes, but did he change that much? Watched the next episode and read the name again, Robert Glenister, not Philip... so had to look them up, and voila! Brothers! I'd seen Robert in a few episodes of "Hustle" but never connected him to "Caves." Or to Philip, though now the family resemblance seems quite obvious.

I was talking to a co-worker today about the 1970s, and having to explain because he wasn't born until 1987. It's still disconcerting to occasionally stop and think... I could have given birth to this *man* when I was 23.

A pregnant friend told me I was being invited to a baby shower and the date and time to reserve. When the shower was only a few days away, I finally checked to make sure that paper invitations were being sent. She was surprised I hadn’t received it and gave me the number to RSVP. So I ended up leaving a voicemail, "Hi, I’m going to be at your shower. I didn’t get an invite, but I’m told this time and day, so I’ll be there."

Turns out my pregnant friend forgot to put my name on the list. *facepalm* Hopefully the hostess didn’t think I was too bizarrely presumptive, or Saturday’ll be awkward...

I was leaving work and ended up walking by a co-worker I almost never see. And she said, "Oh, I was thinking of you. I was looking through a catalog and saw a toaster shaped Darth Vader's face. Have you seen that?"

And I thought... I'm not sure I want my co-workers to associate me with that level of geekiness.

    Oops! Too late!

Co-workers were just... really odd today. I swear, I do not understand people sometimes... *sigh*

I read a lot of fanfic, though I haven't read much Blake's 7 in the last few years. I was thinking about different fandoms and how they generate different types of fanfic. And I realized I couldn't think of reading a single Blake's 7 AU. Lots of post-Gauda Prime fics that became very AU-ish, but no full-out AUs. It seems funny that no one ever wrote a B7/Robin Hood AU, as it's so obvious. Blake as Robin, Gan as Little John, Avon as Will Scarlet... Servalan could be the Sheriff of Nottingham's widow. She had a terrible fever and her beautiful long hair had to be all cut off. All the servants avert their eyes from her almost bald head, but she finds it liberating. *g*

I just watched the Doctor Who Christmas Special promo... EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

It was so lovely last Christmas, toddling home after a tiring day of presents and food, curling up on the couch, watching Doctor Who. I'm looking forward to another good end to Christmas.

I took mom grocery shopping today, and she mentioned that she writes every night about something that she's grateful for that day. So I thought I would write that I'm grateful she's old enough to willingly surrender doing Thanksgiving, but feels that she wants to contribute by buying most of the groceries. I'll have to do another run next weekend for the things that need to be bought fresh, but now there is a 17 lb turkey in my freezer and a stack of cans by the microwave. Must get the house cleaned top to bottom this weekend and double check recipes, and I'm in great shape for T-day.
